Danger from within vs Danger from without. A dangerous mission to uphold ancient samurai tradition. On the pretence of a business trip, Japanese multi-millionaire Yasujiro Endo journeys to the African nation of Imtazi to find the truth about a Samurai ancestor who disappeared in Africa two centuries ago. Endo’s search takes him on safari into the wilds of Africa, led by the mercenary Johnny Congo and his girlfriend Caro. A disenchanted Vietnam vet, Johnny has spent ten years in the heart of Africa making a living anyway he could. . . sometimes on the wrong side of the law. Discovering that business acquaintance Haroun Hakim is also on safari, Endo has Johnny lead him to Hakim’s camp. Johnny is suspicious of Hakim’s uneasiness at seeing Endo, and of the coincidence that Hakim’s guide happens to be Johnny’s ex-Vietnam commander, Bill Armstrong. The next day the camp is attacked by rebel guerillas and the group is kidnapped. Johnny manages to escape and follows as the others are led to the mountain headquarters of guerilla leader General Zohani. Zohani is in need of weapons for his soldiers, and Hakim, unwilling to openly (and illegally) sell guns to the guerillas, masterminded the ”kidnapping” as a smoke screen for a covert arms deal. |
