The film follows the quests of three top contenders for The Big Year: a wisecracking contractor who aims to break his previous record and win for a second time; a suave CEO on the verge of retirement; and a nuclear power plant software engineer short on cash and self-confidence. Each of the three main characters suffers from their own particular version of a male mid-life crisis and uses birding as a coping mechanism. Stu is nearing retirement, but cant let go of his high-powered job. Brad has never really gotten his life going, and Bostick doesnt know how to maintain a healthy relationship.
