This 1950 version, directed by Michael Gordon and produced by the great Stanley Kramer features Jose Ferrer, in one of his most prolific roles as the romantic and poetic swordsman, Cyrano de Bergerac, a man with an absurdly large nose. He falls madly in low with the very beautiful Roxanne, played by Mala Powers, a woman who he knows will never truly be his as she loves another. Deception, drama, intrigue and finally, tragedy.
