Director Darren Aronofsky (The Wrester) turns a tale of the perils of addiction into a hallucinatory depiction of society gone amok. For middle aged Sara, loneliness leads to a dependence on one TV show and dangerous diet pills. Her wayward son, Harry, and his best mate Tyrone, scheme to sell drugs but find themselves high on their own supply. Harry’s cocaine-addicted girlfriend Marion sees her dream of a career in fashion destroyed. In these four parallel stories, the dream of a better life comes at any price and by any means.
