(The Wild Bunch) – In this gritty Western classic, aging outlaw Pike Bishop (William Holden) prepares to retire after one final robbery. (Ernest Borgnine) and brothers Lyle (Warren Oates) and Tector Gorch (Ben Johnson), Bishop discovers the heist is a setup orchestrated in part by his old partner, Deke Thornton (Robert Ryan). As the remaining gang takes refuge in Mexican territory, Thornton trails them, resulting in fierce gunfights with plenty of casualties. (McCabe & Mrs. Miller) – Charismatic gambler John McCabe (Warren Beatty) arrives in a mining community and decides to open a brothel. The local residents are impressed by his confident demeanour and fast talk, but crafty prostitute Constance Miller (Julie Christie) sees through McCabe’s words and realizes he isn’t as sharp as he seems. For a share in his profits, Mrs. Miller agrees to help plan and run McCabe’s establishment, but soon a powerful company threatens to destroy what they have built up. (Jeremiah Johnson) – A Mexican-American War veteran, Jeremiah Johnson (Robert Redford), heads to the mountains to live in isolation. Woefully unequipped for the task at hand, Johnson is fortunate to come across a seasoned mountain man (Will Geer) willing to teach him the necessary survival tactics. As life continues in the mountains, Johnson finds himself a native bride (Delle Bolton) and an adopted son (Josh Albee). However, their peaceful existence is threatened when Johnson incurs the ire of the Crow Indians. (The Train Robbers) – After the death of her husband, Mrs. Lowe (Ann-Margret) posts a $50,000 reward in return for help recovering her train-robber beau’s hidden fortune, under the pretence of returning it. Lane (John Wayne) assembles a group of cowboys to head to Mexico with Mrs. Lowe, enticed by the reward money. As they cross into Mexico, however, they realize they’re being followed, by both a posse of bandits and a single mysterious rider (Ricardo Montalban) with his own agenda.
