The punishment is worse than the crime. Dr. Liz Manners (Alexandra Paul) hosts a popular radio show, offering advice and counselling to hundreds of devoted fans. One night she receives a call from a very upset woman, “Christine”. A call that will soon change her life. . . as well as lead to murder. This is not the first time Christine has called in for advice. It is now clear to Liz that Christine could possibly be in danger, and strongly advises her to leave her possessive husband, Kyle (William Moses). . . but her advice is a call too late. When Kyle overhears his wife on the phone with Liz, he immediately confronts her. Christine is scared for her life and tries to escape, but is accidentally hit by a car and killed. Wrought with anger and grief, Kyle blames Liz for her death and is now determined to put an end to her marriage, her career and eventually her life. He swears revenge. . . a lover’s revenge. To ensure he is not linked to his wife, Kyle takes on a new identity and works his way into Liz’s life posing as “James,” a business associate of her husband, Rob (Gary Hudson). Positioning himself strategically between the two, he begins to chip away at their marriage. First, he befriends Liz, offering to make a donation to one of her favourite charities, while at the same time luring Rob into an affair with a stripper. When Liz finds out about Rob’s affair, she kicks him out of the house, only to come home one night to find Rob murdered and James waiting to kill her next. Although Liz escapes, she realizes there are not many people she can turn to for help. With James nowhere to be found, and Liz unable to prove his true identity, the police do not believe her story and suspect she is responsible for the murder of her estranged husband. . . except for Homicide Detective Sparks (Gabrielle Carteris). With the help of Detective Sparks and a few friends from the radio station, Liz launches her own investigation, realizing she has to find “James”. . . before he finds her. |
