While trying to get their lives back on track after the drowning of their four year-old-son, Bryn Shaw (Teri Polo) and her husband Paul (David Rees Snell) move to the charming old Beacon Apartments. Bryn tries to befriends a mysterious boy she sees skulking around the building but is shocked to learn that the child actually died in a fall, down the Beacons elevator shaft, while trying to escape his abusive father. Bryn obsessively seeks to uncover the details of the boys death and hopes that freeing the boy will allow him to carry a message to her own son.
