| Where the end of World War II began . . . Screen greats Robert Mitchum, Peter Falk and Arthur Kennedy star in this vivid account of one of the fiercest and most decisive campaigns of World War II. When Allied forces land at Anzio, Italy, they are initially unopposed but instead of moving straight inland to reach their primary objective – Rome – the Commanding Officer decides to dig in and build a coastal stronghold. This decision allowed the unprepared Germans time to outflank them by enclosing the Anzio beachhead and engaging the Allies in one of the most brutal and bloody battles of WWII. From the acclaimed director of The Caine Mutiny and Back to Bataan and co-starring Giancarlo Giannini, Reni Santoni and Robert Ryan, ANZIO is a powerful film that ranks as one of the most spectacular and realistic war movies ever made. |
