Businessman Logan Stuart (Dana Andrews) is torn between his love of two very different women in 1950’s Oregon and his loyalty to a compulsive gambler friend George Camrose (Brian Donlevy) who crosses the lines of friendship. This is a gripping and fast-paced drama set against the old west when territories vied with each other to become States. Playing opposite Dana Andrews as love interest Lucy Overmire, is famed screen siren Susan Haward who later went onto win an Oscar for I Want To Live. The cast is ably supported by Patricia Roc, famed composer and performer Hoagy Carmichael, and John Wayne’s favourite supporting actor, Ward Bond. Canyon Passage was adapted from a Saturday Evening Post novel and directed by Hollywood great Jacques Tourneur, who later went onto achieve great success directing television series like the Twilight Zone and Bonanza, as well as being involved with a host of other movies such as ‘Cat People’.
