Marlon Brando directed this excellent western and stars as Johnny Rio, a man betrayed by his own best friend. After five bitter years in the Sonora jail, Johnny vows revenge against betrayer Dad Longworth (Karl Malden), who has become a husband, a stepfather and the sheriff of Monterey. When Johnny is released from jail, he seduces Dad’s stepdaughter, Louisa. A deadly game ensues, and Dad locks Johnny in jail, determined to hang him for murder and bank robbery. With Louisa’s help, Johnny escapes. More obsessed with hate now than ever, the two men meet in a showdown under the blazing sun.
