US Marshal Luke Canfield, searching for his missing ex-wife and son, falls for Dixie Johnson, a saloon dancer in the Texas town of Sand Prarie. However another man, Asa Brown, also has his eyes on Dixie. Arriving back in town after tracking down a gang of horse thieves, Canfield hears screaming and investigates. He exchanges gunshots with a man attacking Dixie who flees. Learning it was Brown, Canfield confronts him. As a result of that confrontation, Marshal Canfield finds himself in a desperate pursuit after Asa and his gang of cutthroats burn his home and kidnap Dixie.
