(Iceland) Half a million tourists visit every year to see the freezing glaciers, the steaming geothermal areas, and the huge black sand deserts of Iceland. Out of those, 1,000 need to be rescued. Bear demonstrates how to make a snow cave, find water in deep tunnels and avoid frostbite. But finding food is even more of a problem as Bear is forced to eat a sheep’s eyeball and catch a ptarmigan – a wild grouse. (Norway) Bear heads for the icy wastes of the Arctic Circle, where he tackles frozen waterfalls, hunts wild reindeer and battles against some of the coldest conditions on the planet. Using his parachute as an improvised kite, he crosses a vast frozen lake, and plunges neck deep into a frozen river. When he finally makes the safety of the coast his adventure is far from over as he must make a raft from bits of washed up debris to reach the outer islands of the huge fjord. |
